The nearest airports to Val Thorens ski area are Chambery, Geneva and Lyon which can all be reached after three hours of driving.
The nearest railway station to Val Thorens is Moutiers, around 40kms away. Trains from Paris to Moutiers usually take between four and six hours.
There is also a public bus service between Val Thorens and Geneva, Chambery and Lyons airports provided by AltiBus.

The Ski Area

Beginners and intermediaries can test their skills on a wide range of red and blue pistes that gently run above the village. Once you find your feet then take on something more challenging such as the long and invigorating journey down to the Maurienne Valley. For the most adventurous there’s nothing better than an off-piste adventure and the Chaviere and Peclet glaciers seem to be designed with you in mind. Hop on the Cascades chairlift then ski the Dalles piste to arrive at a sun-kissed terrace, where you can enjoy the gourmet food. You’ll love the original Mongolian yurt with a fireplace inside.
Au Mazot
This small, friendly restaurant serves pure mountain food using local Savoyard recipes. Big plates and a big welcome come guaranteed by the hosts.
