Bahamas Beaches
Beaches in the Bahamas
Bahamas beaches are famous for their white sands and clear turquoise waters. With over 700 islands, they offer everything from lively shores in Nassau to secluded spots in the Exumas. Perfect for snorkeling, water sports, or relaxing, these beaches provide a beautiful tropical escape.
Long Bay Beach
Unsurprisingly found in the town of Long Bay, Long Bay Beach on San Salvador and its namesake were named after the long boats of Christopher Columbus and his crew. With this in mind, guests can expect to find various monuments dedicated to the Columbus landing and the chance to learn about the history of the island.
Whilst visiting the beach, dabble in snorkelling and spot some local wildlife. And why not head to some of the other island’s neighbouring beaches like Bonefish Bay at Club Med and East Beach.
Visiting Long Bay Beach? Stay at Club Med Columbus Isle.
Also inspired by Christopher Columbus’ landing in the Americas, our Club Med Columbus Isle resort on the island of San Salvador takes its name from the historical moment.
Our colonial-style resort is peppered with the Bahamian charm you’ve come to expect with a trip to this sunshine-scattered haven. Surrounded by the typically clear waters and white sands the Caribbean is known for, take part in swimming with sea turtles and meeting other sea life at our beach, Bonefish Bay.
As well as an unforgettable beach experience, our Bahamian resort also brings tennis, yoga and other fitness opportunities with it. Plus, our aptly named restaurant Christopher’s provides a grand colonial-style setting and sea-view terrace to enjoy exquisite Bahamian cuisine on.
Dean’s Blue Hole
Located in a bay west of Clarence town on Long Island, Dean’s Blue Hole is the world’s second deepest blue hole at 663 feet deep. So, it’s no surprise that the spot has set records with its large marine cavern system.
Surrounded almost entirely by natural limestone rock on three sides, this Bahamian beach is a sight to behold. Activity wise, free divers flock to Dean’s Blue Hole to explore the local wildlife and chase the thrill of sitting on the edge of the famous blue hole. Although entirely safe, this should be avoided by children and non-swimmers. Again, one for the swimmers and thrill-seekers, the surrounding amphitheatre offers the possibility to dive into the water below from the cliffs.
As there are no amenities within a reasonable distance of Dean’s Blue Hole, we recommend bringing plenty of water and food with you for a trip here.
Surfer’s Beach
Unsurprisingly found in the town of Long Bay, Long Bay Beach on San Salvador and its namesake were named after the long boats of Christopher Columbus and his crew. With this in mind, guests can expect to find various monuments dedicated to the Columbus landing and the chance to learn about the history of the island.

Pig Beach (Big Major Cay)
Unless you’re completely unacquainted with The Bahamas, you’ll have heard of Pig Beach by now. Officially known as Big Major Cay, the beach offers guests an unmissable and somewhat unimaginable experience, involving pigs.
Familiarise yourself with the island’s unexpected residents and revel in many photo opportunities with them. As they’re entirely used to human company and interaction, with Pig Beach being one of The Bahamas’ most famous beaches, it’s perfectly safe for both you and them to paddle alongside them. For animal fans, take the chance to explore other beautiful wildlife populating the waters, like sea turtles. And even set sail one of the boat tours on offer to see and learn more about the island.
